"It is our collective and individual responsibility to protect and nurture the global family, to support its weaker members and to preserve and tend to the environment in which we all live."

- Dalai Lama

With this in mind, it is the responsibility of the Urban Sustainability Meetup Group to, among other goals, work towards improving the city's infrastructure (parks, public transportation, sidewalks, bike lanes and more), encourage alternative transportation methods, and establish sustainable food production within city borders.

We will achieve our goals by spreading awareness to members of our communities, taking actions to better our local environment, and lobbying government and business officials to make decisions for the good of all.

If you are interested in making a difference, and want to meet others who share your passion, this group is for you!

Meetup topics
New Urbanism & Sustainable Development, Alternative Energy, Permaculture, Frugal Living

What members are saying

The people who came- Katie, Jen, Holly, Joe, and Jess- all struck me as dedicative, insightful people.

I'm embarassed to admit that I've only recently come across the concept of sustainable living while looking for info on cost-cutting rather than environmentalism, but I'm interested and inspired nonetheless.

Namaste everyone... I'm studying sustainability in grad school and starting local is a main theme. I hope I can be an asset and help change Indy for the better.
