About Rochester New Urbanism & Sustainable Development Meetup

Rochester is an excellent place to live and enjoy pursuits outside of the daily routine. From the Lilac Festival, to Professional Baseball, to a national-quality Orchestra, to beaches and navigable rivers, Rochester truly offers something for everyone.

We strive here to point up the advantages of city living in the 3rd largest city in New York State while contributing to the health and safety of its various communities now and going forward by staying abreast of and pushing for urban infill and pedestrian lifestyle options.

We invite anyone and everyone whether you currently live in the city or not to join us and learn about city amenities that were always there and are just now being rediscovered.

I think Duany, Plater-Zyberk, and Speck best encapsulate our ideals in the text of their Suburban Nation. "...both restorations and new construction demonstrate that, when offered true community, buyers require no other amenity, not even location."

I would encourage meetup members looking for more than just a monthly meetup to participate in the discussion there as well. I will continue to condense urban news pertaining mostly to Rochester, but also other Great American Cities in that location.
